The Carl Sandburg College baseball team began its Arrowhead Conference schedule with a pair of tight losses at Highland on Saturday afternoon.

Key Moment
The Chargers (4-15, 0-2) tied the game at 4 in the fifth on a three-run homer by Abe Collins (Morton, Ill./Morton), but the Cougars went back ahead with a pair of sixth-inning runs behind four hits and a hit batsman.
Sandburg Standout
Center fielder Ben Higgins (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) went 2 for 4 with a double and stole a pair of bases. Higgins also stole a base in Game 2.

Key Moment
The Chargers’ best scoring chance came in the third as Wynn Takacs (Tipton, Ind./Taylor) led off with a double and Collins followed with a walk. But the next three batters were retired on a fielder’s choice and back-to-back strikeouts, leaving two runners in scoring position.
Sandburg Standout
Despite being saddled with the loss, Austin Collinson (Normal, Ill./Normal West) had a strong outing on the mound, allowing just two runs on seven hits. The righthander walked four and fanned seven batters.
